Boku Super Bookstore
The largest bookstore in Hangzhou is certainly the Boku Super Bookstore on Wen'er Road, not far from the off-campus apartments. While the majority of the books are of course in Chinese, there is an impressive collection of Chinese and Western art books on the third floor, not to mention a wide variety of Chinese language textbooks and Chinese-English dictionaries, including a domestic printing of the fabulous ABC Chinese-English Comprehensive Dictionary by John DeFrancis for only CNY 120. Open seven days per week until 9:00 P.M.

Hangzhou Park Card
To purchase a Hangzhou Park Card, otherwise known in Chinese as the Hangzhou Gold Card (Hangzhou Jinka 杭州金卡), visit the Hangzhou West Lake Scenic District Board of Management, located on the lake-side of Nanshan Road just south of the Scholar Garden in the Hangzhou Children Park Ticket Office. This card allows free and unlimited access to most parks in Hangzhou, except for the Leifeng Pagoda. The cost of the card is CNY 50 for one year (January 1 through December 31) and may be purchased any time of the year with a valid passport and either a Hangzhou student card or with proof of Hangzhou residency. Open 8:30-4:30 Monday through Sunday. Bring valid identification and a 1" visa-style photograph, which will be scanned and returned.

Hangzhou Buddhist Monastery Card
Otherwise known in Chinese as the Hangzhou Urban District Buddhist Monastery Yearly Visitor's Pass (Hangzhou shiqu fojiao siyuan canguan nianpiao 杭州市区佛教寺院参观年票), this card allows free unlimited access to Lingyin, Jingci, Fayin, Fajing, Faxi and Fuguang monasteries. The cost of the card is only CNY 22 for one year (January 1 to December 31) and may be purchased at the Agricultural Bank of China, Jiefang Road branch, on 11 Jianguo Road, at the intersection with Jiefang Road across from the Hangzhou No. 2 Middle School on Jianguo Road. Enter the first floor of the Weixing Century Plaza from the Jiefang Road entrance. Bring your student card or Park Card and a 1” visa-style photograph, which will be laminated on the card. Open 9:00-4:00 from December 10 to March 30 only. Note that fall semester students will only be able to take advantage of this card during winter break and second semester.

Hangzhou Hefang Blind Massage Center
These small massage clinics are open 24-hours and are located just a block east from West Lake. All of the massage practitioners here are professionally trained and most are blind or partially blind men. Prices range from CNY 35 for 60 minutes or CNY 20 for 30 minutes. Frequent visitors may also purchase a card for 10 hours at CNY 300.
