Friends World Program of Long Island University
International Student Dormitory
Students may elect to live on the Yuquan Campus in single dormitory rooms arranged by Zhejiang University. The dormitory is located in the International Students Building where language classes are held and a ten-minute walk from the China Center. Each single room is fully furnished and includes all utilities and cleaning. One semester students tend to select this option.
The standard rent per month for students staying less than one semester in a single room is CNY 70 per day (CNY 2,100 per month) and CNY 140 per day for a double (CNY 4,200 per month) paid monthly, and including utilities and house cleaning. Students staying for one semester will pay only CNY 50 per day (CNY 1,500 per month), but this does not include house cleaning and includes only 60 kilowatts of electricity each month (enough to operate lights and a computer), but students using air-conditioning will have to pay an extra CNY 0.8 per kilowatt. Students staying more than one semester will pay as low as CNY 5,700 every four months for a discount of CNY 300 off the one-semester price (CNY 1,425 or USD 176 per month). Long-term residents returning home between semesters for at least 15 days may pay CNY 30 per day to reserve their room, but students traveling for two weeks or less must pay the regular rate while absent.
The front gate of the International Student Building is open between 6:30 A.M. and 11:00 P.M., but the side gate located just next to it is open twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
